Speech & Language Therapy

Professional Speech and Language therapists assess, diagnose and treat people with communication difficulties such as not understanding spoken language to not being able to speak. They can put a communication device or aid in place to help a child communicate effectively.

A Speech and Language therapist comes to the Centre monthly to help families in need of support. This therapy is at a  reduced cost to the parents and we here at Jack & Friends subsidises a portion of that cost for the family through fundraising and donations received.

This treatment is specified as a vital requirement for a child who could be non verbal at time of diagnosis and a service accessible through the public system but due to the enormous waiting list (2/3 years) parents are left with this additional weekly cost (€90) to access private therapy so to support their children.

Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapy is the use of particular activities as an aid to help children to learn how to dress themselves, to using the toilet and learning how to use utensils to eat at meal times.
Our
Occupational Therapist meets children at the Centre once a month through 1:1 appointments with their family. She groups children with similar needs at times. This service is a cost to the parents with the club subsidising a portion of that cost to help make it affordable for families through fundraising and donations recieved.

This treatment is specified as a vital requirement for a child who present with sensory disregulation, and feeding problems  at the  time of diagnosis and a service accessible through the public system but due to the enormous waiting list (2/3 years) parents are left with this additional weekly cost (€90) to access private therapy so to support their children.

Play Therapy

Play therapy is a method of meeting and responding to the mental health needs of children and is extensively acknowledged by experts as an effective and suitable intervention in dealing with children’s brain development.

Our Play Therapist  meets children at the Centre four afternoons per month through 1:1 appointments with their family. She groups children with similar needs at times. This service is a cost to the parents with the club subsidising a portion of that cost to help make it affordable for families.
